Actor Hugh Jackman has been injured in a stunt while filming for an Oprah television special in Australia.
Oprah-mania has been bubbling over in Sydney, where she has been recording shows for the final season of The Oprah Winfrey Show, but there was a little hiccup when movie heartthrob Jackman attempted to make a dramatic entrance onto the stage.
The star took a flying leap from the top of the Opera House sails using a zip line, with a 6,000-strong crowd cheering him on, until the moment he crashed into a lighting rig.
“I came down waving to everyone, looking over te Sydney harbour, saw my dad, the kids and you, went to pull the brake and the boing,” he said to the talk show host. “Totally my bad.”
Jackman had to be winched down and he was immediately rushed off the stage by paramedics.
“That was so much fun until the end. Too much fun” he joked.
Fortunately the injury was nothing too serious and the 42-year-old action star, who admitted the excitement caused him to hit the brake too late, returned to the stage a little while later with a small bandage under his eye.
Sporting a swollen and bruised eye, a cheerful looking Jackman then tucked into some wine and the country’s famous Vegemite snack -a black yeast spread — with Oprah.
