According to www.telegraph.co.uk, the latest discovery by the team of researchers could prove to be highly beneficial for the patients who need to undergo kidney transplant almost every year and for those who remain on dialysis constantly.
The research was conducted by a group of researchers at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research, Italy. The study incorporated effects of ACE inhibitors which are a set of drugs used for dealing with blood pressure problems.
As per www.dailylatestnews.com, the study was based on a trial which was conducted on about 112 patients, half of whom were made to consume BP Drugs- ACE inhibitors. The findings revealed that these patients treated with the BP drugs were found to be less at risk of falling prey to kidney failure as compared to those who remained on other treatments.
The team of researchers also explained that the findings have also hinted at the benefits of stem cells which could prompt damaged kidneys to get repaired on their own. However, it might require further research studies. The study has been published in the medical journal called Lancet.
