Female wine drinkers have lower obesity risk

A study conducted by the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston revealed that women who enjoyed the odd glass of wine are at a lower risk of developing obesity.
The study conducted on 19,220 women over 13 years showed the group of non-drinkers gained the most weight, and the women who drank wine (especially red) gained the least amount of weight. The survey was conducted to study the drinking habits of the females and the effect of wine on their bodies.
Spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association Catherine Collins told themedguru.com: “What this survey shows is that moderation is key to a healthy lifestyle. People who drink wine may be more likely to snack on sugary and more calorific treats.”
According to the research findings, women who drink moderate amount of wine are less prone to become stout as compared to the ones who prefer soft drinks or mineral water, the Daily Mail writes.
The research experts concluded that drinking wine does not add fat to the body, instead allow the body to generate heat. According to the lead researcher, Lu Wang, in case of wines the body metabolism works differently as compared to beers.
Perhaps we should forget our strict salad diets and indulge in wine more often.
Celebrities who battled obesity but have lost weight include Sarah Rue, Oprah Winfrey and Kirstie Alley.

Horrible conclusions. I bet you would also find “people who drive Lexus’s are less likely to put on weight”. The reason in America is that more affluent people in America have better health (eat better, go to gyms, etc.), where poorer people in America tend towards obesity.
