James Brown and his drug hell

The lives of celebrities are not a bed of roses as it is usually projected. Like any other non- famous person, they also see tough times in their respective lives yet have to deal with their issues in a public manner. One such person is American entertainer, James Brown. He began his musical career in 1956 and received many accolades and got recognition in the 1950s and 1960s.
Known for his hard work and dedication, James joined the ‘Famous Flames’ group in 1955 and recorded many smashing hits with the same group including ‘Please Please Please’, ‘Try Me’ and ‘(Do the) Mashed Potatoes’. The success journey started with his live show called ‘Live at Apollo’ in 1963 and James Brown sang some of his signature tunes including ‘Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag’, ‘I Got You (I Feel Good)’ and both these tracks topped the music charts.
In the 1980s James Brown stepped into films to try his luck and gave some of his best performances in feature films including ‘The Blue Brothers’, ‘Doctor Detroit’, ‘Rocky IV’ and ‘Miami Vice’ which actually revived his career. His versatility worked for him in every field he ventured in.
The 1980s was the period of personal turmoil for James. In 1982, James Brown was engulfed in the vicious circle of drug abuse and started consuming dangerous psychosis-provoking drug called ‘Angel Dust’. In 1988 Brown was arrested after a high-speed car chase and for reportedly assaulting an officer, not to mention the drug-related charges. Sentenced to six years in prison, Brown was released after only three.
James Brown could not come out of the personal issues during 1980s. He checked himself into a drug rehabilitation centre and underwent a treatment for 90 days.
Health was always a concern for James. Diagnosed with diabetes from a very young age, he was also diagnosed with prostate cancer, which successfully overcame. After so many musical hits and numerous awards to his credit, James Brown passed away on Christmas day, 2006, from a heart failure brought on my complications of pneumonia.
