James Franco quits twitter to focus on writing
Published: April 04, 2020
Increasingly popular actor, James Franco, has been forced to close his Twitter account after publishing certain comments which have upset his corporate backers.
The 32-year-old star of films such as Spider Man 2 and 127 Hours signed up to the social network at the beginning of the year and was an instant hit with fans who avidly followed his sometimes controversial tweets. Such memorable fare includes a swipe at Bruce Vilanch whose tepid writing skills penned the drab, dreary and predictable Oscar’s script in retaliation for criticism levelled at Franco for his spot hosting the awards.
While seeing the site as a god place to vent and pontificate he has closed his page as his scrawls have touched a nerve with certain, ‘vital’ connections.
In an interview with Politico.com, Franco said: “Social media is over… My thought was ‘This is my Twitter. I can do whatever I want.’ But certain companies I work with contacted me about what I was saying.”
Some people may be upset at losing their social outlets but Franco is more pragmatic and feels the break from tweeting will leave room for more creative elements in his life – especially writing.
“If you want to write, make the time. We all have an hour or two a day that can be used for surfing Facebook or writing. No one is going to beg any new writer to write.”
Wise words Mr. Franco and a valuable lesson to anyone who wishes to create but lets digital distractions swallow their time. Be it Facebook, twitter or video games; those creative channels will never flow smoothly all the while the mind chooses to focus on pre-created worlds that offer little stimulus ot those with a creative bent.
