The media reported that just a few weeks after being diagnosed with cancer, Swayze underwent surgery to remove a part of his pancreas. He followed this with chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Despite saying his body is responding to the treatment, he has also claimed that there is a “tiny little thing” on his liver during an interview with Barbara Walters, indicating the cancer may have spread.
Patrick Swayze  fought a very public battle with cancer - not only did he talk openly about his illness, but his slow demise was clearly visible to not only his friends and family but also his fans all over the world. Magazines continuously published the most recent photos of the actor, who appeared to be growing frailer from week to week.
Swayze passed away in Los Angeles on Monday. The 57-year-old’s family and doting wife Lisa Niemi were by his side.
Swayze led an illustrious and successful career - he was ever the hunk with his female fans since starring in the 1987 movie ‘Dirty Dancing’, in which he played a sexy dance instructor. Some of his other famous roles include surfer flick ‘Point Break’, the ever romantic movie ‘Ghost’ with Demi Moore, ‘To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar’ (in which he plays a drag queen) and ‘Donnie Darko’. He was even voted “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine in 1991.
