Tinsel town is a weird place. While some beauties succumb to depression, others can’t handle all the attention and become addicts, and others fall prey to eating disorders. One such TV actress who poured her heart out when asked about her eating disorder is Stephanie Pratt.
Stephanie shot to fame with her role in the hit series ‘The Hills’. Apparently, she became bulimic while she was just a young girl. She talks about her conservative parents and told MTV: “My mom and dad were very hands-on parents. They were never on vacations or anything like that, and I did everything right under their noses — I did drugs, I threw up my food — in the same house as them. And for them to never see that, my mom was just like, ‘What did I do wrong?’ ”
The ‘Hills’ star wants to spread the word about her problem, which is sadly becoming the problem of many every young girls. “If she had known the signs of what to look for, I could have been helped a lot earlier,” she told MTV. “I’m so thankful I got professional help and I’m healthy now, but I just really wanted to do this to help all of those moms to see those signs in their daughters. [Bulimia is] such an ugly, ugly word. I wish I could have danced around it and said I had eating issues, but this isn’t an article for me to shine.”
However, the rumor mill went into overdrive after Stephanie, who is the sister of Spencer Pratt, who is famously married to Heidi Montag, joined the case of the reality TV show. While it is not confirmed that she suffered a relapse and battled an eating disorder, Blast Magazine quotes the actress as saying: “I can’t believe how huge I look walking over to Lauren.’” Some publications claim the actress was uncomfortable with her weight – an idea that gained momentum when she said: “It’s embarrassing working with skinny girls.”
Today Stephanie has an amazing body to show off, and definitely doesn’t have to feel bad walking alongside her ‘Hills’ co-stars.
celebrities who have battled eating disorders include Paula Abdul, Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, Geri Halliwell and Sharon Osbourne.
