The Hiranandani Group is planning to set up a 200-bed hospital near Ghodbunder Road in Thane. Construction work of the hospital is expected to begin on Sunday and the hospital will be operational in the next 24 months, said Niranjan Hiranandani, founder and managing director of Hiranandani
Constructions on Friday.
“We are planning a 10-bed trauma centre in the hospital, given the number of accidents taking place in the area. A nuclear medicine centre has also been planned which will compliment the cancer work in the area of targeted therapy,” said Dr Sujit Chatterjee, chief executive officer, Hiranandani Hospitals.
Besides offering specialised facilities such as cardiac care, orthopaedics, cancer care, obstetrics and gynaecology, infertility treatment and dental care, the hospital will also focus on areas such as home care, preventive healthcare, day care, foot care and diabetes and wound healing.
Thane, which has an approximate population of 13 lakh, has four major hospitals__two public and two private.
“With socio-economic developments and booming population, Thane is the fastest growing district in India. However there is huge shortage of hospital beds in this region,” said Hiranandani.
“The upcoming hospital is expected to cater to nearly two lakh population coming from areas such as Ghodbunder Road, Dahisar, Navi Mumbai and even Nasik,” said Dr Chatterjee.
The real estate giant is investing Rs 200 crore in the new hospital project.
