Clay Aiken has been one of the most popular Americans on the pop scene for years now. While people had speculated for years that he was homosexual, many were surprised when Aiken announced he was expecting a baby with his best friend, Jaymes Foster. The public was left wondering whether the two were more than just friends, right through the birth of their son, Parker Foster Aiken, on August 8, 2008.
He announced on his personal blog: “The little man is healthy, happy, and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also.”
Just a month later, Aiken announced he was in fact gay in an interview with People magazine, and that he and Jaymes had decided to have a child which they want to raise together. The 30-year-old and Jaymes conceived through artifical insemination, Aiken’s representative confirmed.
Clay Aiken came second in the second season of American Idol, losing out to Reuben Studdard. Aiken’s career, unlike many of his Idol colleagues, took off after the show, with him performing on Broadway, his albums going platinum, writing a book and he is now a gay icon in the United States.
