Jim Carrey’s life with ADHD
Published: January 02, 2021
Lack of focus and concentration is generally observed in children at a young age. This should not always be taken lightly, as it can be a sign of an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It usually happens in childhood and continues throughout your life even when you grow old. This kind of behavioral disorder affects around 8 percent to 10 percent of schoolchildren and does not allow them to concentrate on one thing for a long time.
There are several celebrities who suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Legendary comedian Jim Carrey is one of them. This comic genius with his charismatic facial expressions has consistently had his audience in stitches for 20 years, but in reality, he cannot concentrate on one work for a long time.
On the flip side, it is said that people suffering from ADHD are very creative, innovative, adventurous and more intelligent than the non-sufferers and this is true with Jim Carrey. Carrey’s wants and attempts to always be funny is apparently a trait of his influenced by ADHD.
Carrey has always been open about his ADHD disorder and other depressions and said that he has been undergoing treatment since childhood. As a student, Jim used to be a restless child. JimCarreyWorld.com quotes the actor as saying: “My report card always said, ‘Jim finishes first and then disrupts the other students.” He used to disturb his class once he was done with his own thing with his class clown act.
IMDB.com writes that Carrey was allowed to perform stand up routines for his classmates at the end of the day, provided he was still throughout class time beforehand.
Being aware of his disorder, he still continues to make people laugh with his comic intellect and he admits by saying (as quoted by BrainyQuote.com), “I’m a hard guy to live with.
“I’m like a caged animal.
“I’m up all night walking around the living room.
“It’s hard for me to come down from what I do.”
Other celebrities who have been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD include Will Smith, Michael Phelps, Ty Pennington and Jamie Oliver.
