Julien Hug found dead in mysterious circumstances

Julien Hug, who famously wooed Jillian Harris on The Bachelorette in 2009, has been found dead in mysterious circumstances. He was reported missing late last week but was found dead on Wednesday, according to Riverside County officials (California).

Hug’s body was found near Pinyon Pines at around 11am local time, a remote area off Highway 74.  The cause of death is under investigation and as yet an autopsy has not been carried out.

Jillian Harris is said to be devastated by the news and has issued a statement via Twitter, saying:

“Please say a prayer for the loss of a friend this morning. Life is fragile, don’t forget to love the ones you love.”

Whilst on the show in the 2009 series, Hug, one of thirty bachelors to receive a rose on his first night said he felt that he had a strong connection with Harris and believed it would be great if “Jillian and Julien [were] together forever.”

That proved not to be the case though as he was eliminated in only the 2nd week of that season.

Harris followed her Tweet by saying, “I am completely heartbroken for the Hug family, and my whole heart goes out to them today as they mourn a precious life that ended far too soon.  It’s very difficult to find the words to express my condolences, but I will always remember Julien’s gentle demeanour and kind heart, which will be sadly missed.”
