Lindsay Lohan’s addiction sees her sentenced to jail

Lindsay Lohan was yesterday sentenced to three months in prison for violating some terms of her probation. Lindsay, who has been on probation since August 2007, was found to have missed nine court-ordered alcohol-counseling classes, despite being warned that non-compliance would see her land in jail.

This came after Lindsay was ordered to wear a device this May after she missed a mandatory court appearance in Los Angeles, claiming her passport was stolen while she was visiting France.

Judge Marsha Revel also sentenced Lindsay to enter a rehabilitation facility for 90 days for treatment within two days of being released from prison.

Lindsay will enter prison on July 20. Judge Revel had reportedly had enough of Lindsay’s excuses, and decided to put her foot down. Lindsay’s tear-soaked pleading had no effect.

“I did everything I was told to do, I thought I was being compliant,” People quotes Lindsay as saying. “I’m not taking this as a joke, it’s my life and career. I don’t want you to think I don’t respect you and your terms.”

These incidents are the latest in a long line of run-ins Lindsay has had with both the police and the judicial system. Trouble began in 2007 when we was arrested for two DUI incidents, and entered rehab an astounded three times that year – at the age of 21. She was also found with “a useable” amount of cocaine in one of the DUI incidents.

Since then it has been difficult for Lindsay – who had enjoyed an incredible young career up until 2007 – to get work on projects, as she seems to have consistently failed in assuring the industry she is now sober and reliable. Highlighting this in particular is the constant paparazzi attention Lindsay gets, with most pictures taken of her in recent years see her drunk and partying.

The Judge hopes Lindsay will learn her lesson through her sentences, and also get sober.

Lindsay’s father, from whom she is somewhat estranged, was also present in court. He’s spoken openly about his daughter’s drug habit, and how she has become a hollow person since consuming them. He’d written a letter to the Judge, asking for Lindsay to be forced into a rehabilitation program.

Other celebrities who have battled addictions include Chris Klein, Charlie Sheen, Ben Affleck and Drew Barrymore.
