John Mellencamp to divorce wife of 20 years

This has been THE year for celebrity break-ups, and before we go into 2011, there’s one more divorce to add to list. Rocker John Mellencamp and his wife have decided to call it quits on their marriage.
But there is something that distinguishes this couple from the average Hollywood pair — they have been together for 20 years, something almost unheard of in Tinseltown.
Their rep issued a statement: “John and Elaine Mellencamp are proud of their 20 years together and very happy with their accomplishments both as parents and as a family. They will continue to raise their two children in Indiana but have decided to call it a day as a couple.”
Mellencamp rose to fame in the late 70s and early 80s with hits like Hurts so Good and Jack and Dianne, and to date he has sold over 30 million records.
The 59-year-old singer-songwriter met his wife, a model, when she was 23 years old and they have two sons, Hud and Speck.
