The research study was conducted by the researchers at the University of Texas and spanned over a time period of twelve years. During the study, lifestyle and diets of about 1700 people was analysed. The findings of the study revealed that people whose diets incorporated high amounts of grilled, fried or barbequed meat including pork chops, steaks and bacon, reported for double the increase in the cancer development as compared to others.
Speaking about the new revelation the UK Food Standards Agency said that it is in the best interest of the people if they cook on lower temperature but at a longer time period which will automatically rule out the need for deep frying or barbecuing the meat.
Celebrities who have battled cancer include Rod Stewart, Lance Armstrong, Bob Marley and Robert DeNiro.
