A recent study has revealed that papaya possesses certain properties that can help cure various types of Cancer. According tothe Times of India, the study was conducted by the researchers at University of Florida who helped bring to light the anti cancer properties that papaya owns. The study was published in an issue of the Journal of Ethnopharmacology. As per the University of Florida news, the research lays the claim that papaya’s leaf extracts holds the power to boost the immune system by producing key molecules called Th1-type Cytokines that eventually help fight against various types of cancers including breast, cervix, lung, liver and pancreatic cancer.
Speaking about the new study, Nam Dang who is a professor of medicine and medical director of the UF Shands Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office said “Based on what I have seen and heard in a clinical setting, nobody who takes this extract experiences demonstrable toxicity; it seems like you could take it for a long time - as long as it is effective”.
The study has also revealed that papaya extracts could also be used for treating other problems like autoimmune diseases and inflammations. The fact that papaya extracts do not result in the toxic effects on normal cells might help break away from the common consequences that other cancer treatment therapies lead to.
Celebrities who have suffered from breast cancer include Christine Applegate, Betty Ford, Kylie Minogue and Melissa Etheridge.
Jade Goody lost her battle to cervical cancer in 2009.
Patrick Swayze is just one celebrity who died of pancreatic cancer.
