Joanna Garcia marries New York Yankee Nick Swisher

Actress Joanna Garcia and New York Yankee Nick Swisher have tied the knot.

The pair got hitched at a Palm Beach resort on Saturday in front of 375 friends and family, NY Daily News reports.

The “Better with you” star got engaged to outfielder Swisher in May. “I think for the first time in my life, I have a woman who I could not be more proud of,” he told People in November. “We do such a great job really pushing the other one to do better and I think that’s what you have to have.”

The bride donned an ivory, strapless, drop-waist gown and veil by Monique Lhuillier, while the groom wore a tux by Burberry London, according to People.

Star guests at the wedding included Garcia’s castmate Cameron Diaz and Swisher’s Yankee teammates Alex Rodriguez and Johnny Damon. The party at the Breakers Hotel & Resort went into the evening and guests were treated to a seven-tier, $10,000 Sylvia Weinstock wedding cake, according to US Magazine.

Garcia’s onscreen “Better with You” sister, Jennifer Finnigan, tweeted on the big day: “Can’t wait to celebrate this amazing couple with you!!xx”

The 31-year-old beauty says she “loves everything” about her 30-year-old beau.

“I know that sounds cheesy and lame, but I just really do,” she tells US Magazine. “I’m impressed and awed by him every single day when I wake up. He’s a really happy person and he’s just really nice.”

Although Garcia is currently filming in LA and Swisher is in NYC with the Yankees, the couple say being apart has been surprisingly easy.

“This relationship’s been the easiest thing I’ve ever done,” Garcia explains. “It works out because we both have crazy schedules for a certain period of time in our lives, but for some reason it doesn’t conflict as much as one would think. Life’s good right now. We’re enjoying it.”

When Garcia is not acting she is volunteering as an English as a Second Language teacher for children in LA. The half-Cuban star is a fluent Spanish speaker. She also works closely with the charity “Make a Commitment”, whose purpose is to raise awareness about cervical cancer, and her own organisation “We Reach”, aimed at empowering young women.

Another celebrity couple who has recently tied the knot is Russell Brand and Katy Perry, while Britain’s Prince William has got engaged to his girlfriend Kate Middleton, Michael Douglas is planning a wedding vow renewal ceremony with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and Lily Allen is pushing ahead with wedding plans despite miscarriage.
